A conference win! A conference win! It’s a Thanksgiving miracle!

Saturday was by far the best game Charlie Weis has coached at Kansas. Not because they won, which is obviously nice, but because it was the first time Weis appeared to coach to the team’s few strengths. KU has very little to work with in the passing game, but they’ve been throwing the ball all season for no apparent reason. This week Kansas attempted just 12 passes, rushed a season-high 54 times, and kept the defense off the field long enough for them to remain rested.

Why it took so long for Weis to figure this out, who knows. Maybe the Super Bowl rings Tom Brady gave him were a distraction. But if Kansas can take this same approach to Iowa State, they can come away with victory number two.

It is amazing what one win can do for the perspective of a season. Going into the year the feeling was that Kansas need to at least pull off three victories and snap their conference losing streak. Both of those things are now checked off. The bonus would have been to get to four wins and win a game on the road, which is an opportunity Kansas will have this Saturday at Ames.
