PLAYOFF CONTENDERS

14. Dallas Cowboys

Record: 5-5

Excellent call to fire Rob Ryan as the defensive coordinator after last season. Clearly he was the reason why the defense sucked.

13. Philadelphia Eagles

Record: 5-5

Prediction: Whoever wins the NFC East will win at least one playoff game.

12. Cincinnati Bengals

Record: 6-4

It is tough to take Cincinnati seriously when they lose back-to-back games to Miami and Baltimore, but you should.

11. New York Jets

Record: 5-4

It would seem at this point that the Jets are either going to finish 10-6 or 6-10, nothing in between.

10. Chicago Bears

Record: 5-4

Via ESPN: Matt Forte‘s average rushing gain before being hit by a defender was seven-tenths of a yard past the line of scrimmage, more than 2 yards short of his season average.

9. Detroit Lions

Record: 6-3

There are few things more unfair than trying to defend Reggie Bush and Calvin Johnson at the same time. Imagine if Detroit had a second receiver to go with Johnson on the other side?

8. Indianapolis Colts

Record: 6-3

Indy has looked awful since beating Denver. Gotta wonder if the Colts have peaked?

7. New England Patriots

Record: 7-2

Patriots have a chance to do Kansas City a huge favor next Sunday night.

6. San Francisco 49ers

Record: 6-3

Not having a downfield threat is killing San Francisco right now. Will Michael Crabtree be able to bring that back in time for the playoffs?
