QUOTES

“I hadn’t heard that. But I heard we’re the only 9-0 team.” – Dwayne Bowe upon being told some were calling the Chiefs the worst 9-0 team in history

“It’s crazy. Insane. That blew my mind. I looked at Rodney (Hudson), and I was like, ‘We’re lucky to play with a defense like this.’ I mean, truly blessed. Like, holy (expletive). I told one of the guys from Buffalo that, and he said, ‘Dude, you guys score 20 points and you’re going to (expletive) beat everybody.’” – Jon Asamoah on the defense

“Maybe. But it could be the toughest 9-0 team you’ve seen in a long time, too.” – Asamoah responding to the question if this is the ugliest 9-0 team in history

“It was like Christmas. You go out there as a little kid, and there’s like a big box right there? That’s how I felt. He threw it right to me. … (And) I knew once I caught it no one was catching me.” – Sean Smith on his pick-six

“The guy comes off of Stevie Johnson, just comes off of him and doesn’t cover him. Even (the Chiefs) knew exactly what we were doing, or it was just unbelievable.” – Buffalo Head Coach Doug Marrone

“Was [Stevie Johnson] open? Somebody definitely blew a coverage then. Because somebody was supposed to pick him up.” – Smith on Johnson being wide open in the end zone on Smith’s interception

“Especially going into Denver now, we’ve gotta make sure we’re firing perfectly. So that’s what it’s gonna be about, going back, fixing that, getting our bodies right and getting rested up for this big Sunday night game.” – Mike DeVito on the bye week

NOTES

– Sunday was Jamaal Charles first game this season without 100 total yards of offense. He had 96.

– Kansas City is just the 19th team in the Super Bowl era to start 9-0. All of the previous 18 made the playoffs.

– The last time the Chiefs had won in Buffalo prior to Sunday was in 1986.

Andy Reid is the third head coach in NFL history to start 9-0 with a new team. Jim Caldwell and Wally Lemm are the other two.
