8. Florida Gators

Record: 4-3 (3-2)

Previous Ranking: 8

Last Week: Bye

This Week: vs Georgia (in Jacksonville)

Next Week: vs Vanderbilt

If Florida cannot score against Georgia then who can they score on?

Florida is in serious danger of missing a bowl game if they don’t find a way to pick off a win in the next two weeks. Both Georgia and Vanderbilt are Florida’s last chance at a win to go with the assumed pasting of Georgia Southern to make the Gators bowl eligible. Otherwise they are reduced to trying to beat either South Carolina on the road or Florida State at the end of the season. Neither seems likely at the moment.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Will Muschamp if the Gators miss a bowl game. There are arguments to be made about injuries that could save his job, but the offensive-minded coach has seen nothing but deteriorating performance from his offense since he’s been there. If he’s not fired, he’ll certainly be on the hot seat heading into 2014.
