12. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Record: 4-3 (1-2)

Previous Ranking: 13

Last Week: MSU 28, UK 22

This Week: at #14 South Carolina

Next Week: at Texas A&M

Mississippi State got their win and rise to the top of the bottom tier. For whatever that is worth.

Escaping the bottom tier is going to be tough over the next few weeks as MSU’s next three games are against South Carolina, Texas A&M, and Alabama. A road game against Arkansas is no gimme and Ole Miss to end the season should be a battle.

MSU still needs two wins to get to bowl eligibility, wins that are not going to come easy. Their best chance is to knock off Arkansas and Ole Miss – on short rest no less – but that likelihood seems so small at the moment.
