5. LSU Tigers
Record: 7-2 (3-2)
Previous Ranking: 4
Last Week: LSU 48, Furman 16
This Week: Bye
Next Week: at Alabama
Yay, LSU destroyed Furman.
This week is a bye week for the Tigers as they prepare for their annual matchup against Alabama. The bye week is going to prove to be little advantage for them as Alabama will also have the benefit of a bye week this weekend, too.
Even though this game is on the road, LSU has the potential to knock off Alabama moreso than any other team that has played the Crimson Tide this season. LSU has the quarterback and the receivers to take advantage of Alabama’s secondary, while also possessing a defense that is capable of competing against Alabama’s running game. Alabama is allowing only 9.8 points per game, but they allowed 42 points to A&M – the best offense they’ve played this season by far.
LSU is out of the national title run, and probably the SEC title, too. But beating Alabama would make up for most of that.
