5. Oklahoma State Cowboys
Record: 6-1 (3-1) – Bowl Eligible
Previous Ranking: 5
Last Week: OSU 58, ISU 27
This Week: at #15 Texas Tech
Next Week: vs Kansas
We’re about to see what Oklahoma State truly is in the next six weeks. OSU faces Tech, Texas, Baylor, and Oklahoma – with Kansas sandwiched in there – over the remainder of the season. To this point in the year, OSU has faced just one BCS team – Mississippi State – that has more than three wins. All of their remaining opponents, minus Kansas, have at least five wins. Three are ranked in the top 15.
Good news here is OSU has Baylor and Oklahoma at home, which should make those games a little bit less difficult. But facing Tech and Texas on the road will not be an easy task.
The question for OSU is how for real quarterback Clint Chelf‘s performance was against Iowa State. Chelf led the team to 420 yards of offense – 342 of which came on the ground – and their highest point total of the season. But is 78 yards of passing offense against a terrible ISU secondary going to be enough to beat OU, Baylor, Texas, and Texas Tech?
