4. Corey Hart
Hart is the numero uno power bat on the market. He crushes the ball. He’s a bad fielder, but who cares; he crushes the ball. His OBP isn’t as high as Beltran’s, but who cares; he crushes the ball. He sat out last season while rehabbing one knee surgery or another. He has had 60 extra base hits from 2010-2012. He has slugged .500+ for each of those years. His average batted fly-ball distance in 2012 was over 300 feet! He’ll also only be 32 next season.
Hart will demand Hunter Pence-type money. Because not every team is as generous as the Giants, and because he missed a year, he probably won’t get it, but it might be close. Teams should expect to pay this guy $13-15 million per year. If the Royals can get him on the low end of that, he might make a good fit.
