5. Curtis Granderson

Granderson is a stud in New York. Before an injury-prone 2013, he hit 40+ home runs in 2011 and 2012. He plays decent center-field, which is great for a Royals team that has the easily broken Lorenzo Cain. Bad news for the Royals is that his power won’t translate well to Kauffman Stadium. Yankees Stadium is a power-hitter’s paradise. Kauffman is a power-hitter’s nightmare. It’s hard to imagine Granderson topping 30 home runs at the K when he averaged only 25 per season for the Tigers. The good news is that many of his fly balls will find gaps in the huge Kauffman outfield.

If the Royals get him, expect an uptick in doubles and triples. He may not slug .500 for the Royals but he would still provide some much needed offense. To get a guy like Granderson, an organization would need to fork over big money. Whoever gets him should expect to pay around $16 million per year.
