4. Oklahoma Sooners
Record: 6-1 (3-1) – Bowl Eligible
Previous Ranking: 4
Last Week: OU 34, Kansas 19
This Week: vs #10 Texas Tech
Next Week: Bye
Oklahoma slept through the first quarter at Kansas and were still able to pull out a 15-point win. This is not something they’ll be able to do against Texas Tech and expect to win.
While Tech is probably over-rated – we don’t really know who they are yet – they do have a good handle of how to move the ball effectively through the air. Oklahoma’s defense is built for this to some degree, they held KU to just 16 yards passing for the game, but they have not seen this good of a passing attack this season.
This is a crucial two-game stretch for the Sooners as they’ll play Tech this week and Baylor 11 days later. Get through this and they’ll be playing meaningful football on the road at K-State and Oklahoma State to end the season.
