HALL OF VERY GOOD
9. Chicago Bears
Record: 4-2
Previous Ranking: 9
When Jay Cutler is not turning the ball over he’s a top 10, maybe fringe top 5, quarterback in the NFL. But the turnovers are going to happen eventually…
8. Detroit Lions
Record: 4-2
Previous Ranking: 11
Calvin Johnson still has a significant presence in this offense even when he is slowed down by injury.
7. Indianapolis Colts
Record: 4-2
Previous Ranking: 6
Trap game? Indy looked very sluggish and out of sync on Monday night. Still, Denver at Indianapolis is going to be a fun game.
6. New England Patriots
Record: 5-1
Previous Ranking: 10
Brady was 10 seconds away from having to hear a week’s worth of First Take segment’s about how’s he’s done as a quarterback.
5. Kansas City Chiefs
Record: 6-0
Previous Ranking: 5
Yes, the Chiefs defense is crazy, ridiculous, insanely good. However, how many Super Bowl participants since 2000 have an offense this inept at scoring points? Two? (Tampa Bay, 2002; Baltimore, 2000)
Kansas City ranks 25th in yards, 26th in first downs, 28th in passing yards, and 21st in points per drive, all according to Pro-Football-Reference. Chiefs need to improve to at least an average offense before they can be considered Super Bowl contenders.
