Tamba Hali and a fearsome pass rush shutdown the Oakland Raiders Sunday afternoon, 24-7. The Chiefs improve to 6-0 on the season and remain tied for first place in the AFC West with the Denver Broncos. Kansas City has tripled the amount of wins they had in 2012 in the first six weeks of the season.

QUOTES

“Everybody’s trying to eat around here, everybody’s hungry and everybody’s thirsty.” – Derrick Johnson on KC’s 10 sacks.

“It’s the coaches, I promise. Because it’s the same team we had last year, minus a couple of guys, and we’re having this much success.” – Tamba Hali on the difference between this year and 2012

“It feels good for me, personally, individually. But for the team, it’s huge. We get a ‘W.’ I get three sacks and we go home with smiles on our faces. Three sacks without a win? That’s not happy.” – Hali

“We want to thank San Francisco for releasing him and allowing us to pick that guy up.” – Dunta Robinson on Marcus Cooper

“He’s got the eye of a tiger, man, he’s a brick wall. I let him know that’s going to happen. There’s not a corner in this league that hasn’t given up a catch or gotten beaten. But it says something the way he fought back. He was on every route from then on.” – Brandon Flowers on Cooper

“I’m glad I got beat, you know? It’s always a learning experience for me. You have to experience some type of adversity to get better, to put your best foot forward. That’s just something I want to go back and study and see how I can improve my game from that standpoint.” – Cooper being awesome

“Our fans were crazy, and that’s what we live for. It was our 12th man, it was our extra man on defense. So many false start penalties, so many delay of games, in a big game like that, that counts and we give full credit to our fans.” – Kendrick Lewis on Chiefs fans

“That’s the British in me, I’m afraid. So there will be a corrected certificate coming out with the exact measurement displayed as well.” – Guinness Book of World Records’ Philip Robertson on the certificate reading “Arrowhead Arena”

“We broke out some old Emmitt Thomas tape and showed them what it was all about.” Andy Reid on teaching Chiefs about Raiders rivalry

“Defense played phenomenal — a lot of this falls on me. This loss is on me, and I’ll take it.” – Terrelle Pryor

“We have to come together and start creating. We‘ll be back; 2-4; we’ll get to the playoffs.” – Pryor

NOTES

– 4th and 48.

– Chiefs fans in 137.5 on sound-o-matic (or whatever they call those decibel reader things) to set a world record for an outdoor stadium. More on the sound record:
