6. TCU Horned Frogs

Record: 3-3 (1-2)

Previous Ranking: 6

Last Week: TCU 27, KU 17

This Week: at #21 Oklahoma State

Next Week: vs Texas

Different week, same story: Defense was awesome but the offense was a liability.

TCU doesn’t need the offense to be otherworldly, just average – the Horned Frogs have a long way to go to get to average. Five turnovers against Kansas and two-for-11 on third down puts a lot of strain on a defense that already carries a huge burden.

But there was some upside here. KU has a pretty solid defense but allowed 207 rushing at five yards per touch against TCU. The better TCU can get at the running game, the better shot they’ll have to against OSU, Texas and Baylor. But they have to commit to it, even when there are eight or nine guys in the box. Taking a page out of the K-State playbook may be a solution for them.

There’s still a lot to play for in Dallas. TCU is still in contention for bowl eligibility and has a defense that can win them games so long as the offense can get them a lead. There a lot of wins still to be had if TCU can take advantage of their strengths.
