If TCU had anything resembling a true quarterback, the Horned Frogs would be the Big 12’s best team. Instead, wide receiver Tevone Boykin is playing quarterback, thus TCU’s season is doomed.

Oklahoma really had no business winning on Saturday otherwise. They got one long run from Brennan Clay at an opportune time, converted two fourth down plays, and contained Boykin’s rushing threat just enough to get the win. Take away Clay’s 76-yard scamper and TCU held Oklahoma to just 279 total yards of offense.

But Clay did have the 76-yard run and OU did do just enough to win the game. Now the Horned Frogs have to wonder if they can win enough games to remain bowl eligible. TCU, who have three losses, have difficult road games against Oklahoma State and Kansas State along with matchups against Baylor and Texas. And winning in Ames won’t be easier either, just ask Texas.

Maybe a game against Kansas is what TCU needs to figure out some things on offense. KU comes in battered from a loss to Texas Tech, and doesn’t have the athletes on defense to slow down Boykin. Maybe the mojo gained from beating KU will be enough to re-start TCU’s season.
