Here’s TCU’s best opportunity to regain the promise of their season.
Many had the Horned Frogs as their dark horse pick to win the Big 12 in the preseason, but losses to LSU and Texas Tech – especially Tech – has derailed those chances. Of course, they were derailed until Oklahoma State got TCU back on the tracks with their loss to WVU.
A win over Oklahoma on Saturday gets TCU back in the conference title picture, since the top contenders have not played each other yet. Beat the Sooners and the Horned Frog regain the chance to control their own destiny as it is almost assured no one is going to go through the Big 12 season undefeated.
TCU can pull this off with their defense so long as the offense can protect the ball. Trevone Boykin led five-straight scoring drive in the second half of the SMU game, which is confidence he’ll need against the Sooners. OU is also a team that traditionally struggles with mobile quarterbacks, which could mean good things for Boykin, too.
