Sep 21, 2013; Lubbock, TX, USA; Texas Tech Red Raiders wide receiver Derreck Edwards (19) rushes against the Texas State Bobcats in the second half at Jones AT

4. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Record: 4-0 (1-0)

Previous Ranking: 6 (Trend: UP)

Last Week: Texas Tech 33, Texas State 7

This Week: Bye

Next Week: at Kansas

Another convincing win for the Red Raiders, who will have a bye this week before traveling to Kansas to face the Jayhawks next week. The schedule lines up well for the Red Raiders to have a big start to the season with three-straight games against the Jayhawks, Iowa State, and at West Virginia occupying the next four weeks of their schedule.

Assuming Texas Tech takes care of business against the bottom of the conference, Tech could be 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference heading into their road game against the Sooners. That’s when things will really get tough as TTU ends the season with the Sooners, Cowboys, Wildcats, Bears, and Longhorns.

Win two or three of those games and Tech is in the hunt for being one of the 2014 preseason favorites to win the conference. End it 0-5 and the 7-0 start may be completely forgotten.
