1. Oklahoma State Cowboys
Record: 3-0
Previous Ranking: 1 (Trend: — )
Last Week: Bye
This Week: vs. West Virginia
Next Week: vs. Kansas State
Bye weeks abound for Big 12 teams as half the conference had last week off.
Oklahoma State probably used that time to focus on Kansas State and TCU more than their road game against West Virginia this week. Since moving to J.W. Walsh as the full-time starting quarterback for the Cowboys, the OSU offense has been very good. They’ve scored 56 and 59 points in their last two games and are averaging 487.7 yards per game. They shouldn’t have any issues with West Virginia.
Kansas State and TCU may be more of a challenge afterwords. Both teams will be coming in desperate for wins, and could really use upsets over OSU to recover their season’s. Fortunately for OSU, both of those games will be at home, so they should still be in good shape by the time November rolls around, and November is where things could get crazy.
Until then, OSU should be able to hold down this spot in the power rankings.
