7. Texas Longhorns
Record: 1-2
Previous Ranking: (Trend: Down)
Last Week: Ole Miss 44, Texas 23
This Week: vs. Kansas State
Next Week: Bye
Honest question: Does Texas make a bowl game this season?
A week after get run over by BYU, Texas allowed 272 more yards on the ground to Ole Miss. Texas blew a 23-14 second quarter lead to get walloped at home, proving there are far more issues with this team than just the rushing defense.
Take the quarterback position, for instance. Or third down conversions. Or the penalties. This team is an absolute mess.
So what reason do we give that Texas is going to win six games this season? Oklahoma State, Baylor, and Oklahoma all look like certain losses. Bill Snyder and Kansas State has owned Texas for the last few years, and are bringing in a rushing attack that could post over 600 yards on the Longhorns. That gets you to six losses on the season.
How comfortable are you as a Longhorn fan traveling to TCU? Does hosting Texas Tech sound appealing to you?
A really potential shocker? Kansas. As easy as it is to scoff at Kansas, KU is practically built to beat Texas with their running game. Texas nearly lost to the Jayhawks last season, and when they play them November 2, there is a solid chance the Longhorns will be sitting with a 2-5 record (games against KSU, OU, TCU). Will Mack Brown even be the coach by then?
This season could end up being epically bad for the Longhorns.
