9. Iowa State Cyclones

Record: 0-2

Previous Ranking: 9 (Trend: –)

Last Week: Iowa 27, Iowa State 21

This Week: Bye

Next Week: at Tulsa

Another loss for the Cyclones, this time against in-state rivals Iowa.

Sam Richardson threw two interceptions, and the running game couldn’t produce whatsoever against the Hawkeyes. The Cyclones managed just 2.5 yards per carry and 59 yards on the ground, and did not have a single rush of 10 yards or more. Meanwhile, the Cyclones defense allowed 218 rushing yards to the Hawkeyes.

The game itself wasn’t really as close as the score would indicate. ISU was down 13-0 at halftime, and 27-7 midway through the fourth quarter before the Cyclones put together a late rally.

ISU has a bye this week (again) before traveling to play Tulsa. They should be able to pick up their first win of the season in that game, in theory.
