Kansas City got a huge win at home against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon, propelling them to a 2-0 record.

The Chiefs defense was tremendous, even though Dez Bryant lit up the secondary – mostly Brandon Flowers – for 141 yards and a touchdown. Dallas had just 37 yards rushing for the game, and turned the ball over twice on fumbles. Tony Romo was sacked three times, twice by Dontari Poe, and Ron Parker forced a key Romo fumble.

And then there was the return of the “LOUD” Arrowhead Stadium…

Lot’s to get to, so here’s the postgame news, notes, and quotes from Sunday’s game.

QUOTES

“When you’re trying to build something, you need to win games like this. These are the games you look at in November and December. You need these types of wins, not only the caliber of the win but the style of win. It’s not always going to be pretty, but you have to find a way to bear down.” – Alex Smith

“In the trenches, when it’s time to buckle up, he’s all in. You should see the look in his eyes when he’s demanding and controlling the offense. I never had a quarterback like that. He’s tough, he’s not going to back down …” – Dwayne Bowe on Smith

“I’m glad he flipped over backward that way. He did it with grace.” – Andy Reid on Smith’s first half flip while trying to leap over a Brandon Carr tackle

“That’s probably my first big NFL play since I’ve been in the league. I’m still feeling the juice of it now.” – Ron Parker on his forced fumble after sacking Tony Romo

“I’m going to tell you this right now, it’s not about me, it’s about our football team. That’s the way it’s going to remain throughout the next few days, when we have the opportunity to play them.” – Andy Reid on returning to Philadelphia

“They came out and there was a Sea of Red out there. It was crazy and our players felt that. They wanted to dress in red for the fans and so they asked me about it and I talked to (John) Dorsey about it. He gave us the ok on it, to do that, and the players feel that. Believe it or not, they feel it, especially when the ground is shaking. When our fans are going, you can feel that field and it just kind of rumbles, it’s crazy, but (an) awesome feeling.” – Andy Reid on the fans at Arrowhead

“He’s certainly one of the best coaches in the NFL, and he got the most out of his team. …He milked this thing really good.” – Jerry Jones on Andy Reid

“Andy’s lucky to have this fan base in Kansas City as well. This is a great place to play football for the home team.” – Jerry Jones on Arrowhead

HIGHLIGHTS

– Jamaal Charles two-yard touchdown catch.

– Dwayne Bowe touchdown reception.

Eric Berry‘s fumble recovery. Akeem Jordan had the strip.

– Ron Parker’s sack and strip of Tony Romo.

NOTES

– Via ESPN: Tony Romo was 5-of-5 for 100 yards and a touchdown in the first quarter Sunday, all to Dez Bryant and all against four or fewer pass rushers. The Chiefs would bring extra rushers on 19 of Romo’s 40 dropbacks the rest of the game, limiting Romo to 4-of-7 passing and 41 yards to Bryant after the first quarter (all against at least five rushers).

– The Chiefs are now five-for-five in red zone scoring opportunities, with all of the scores being touchdowns.

– The 76,952 fans at Arrowhead on Sunday were the most since the Chiefs had 77,368 in attendance to watch the Chiefs host Denver on November 11, 2007.

– Kansas City’s defense has allowed only 108 yards on the ground this season, with an average of 2.8 yards per attempt. At 54 yards per game, only Denver is allowing few rushing yards than the Chiefs.

– Sunday was the first day the Chiefs have worn red-on-red jerseys uniforms in franchise history.

– Alex Smith’s 57 rushing yards were a single-game career high for him.
