12. Mississippi State Bulldogs
Record: 0-1
Previous Ranking: 12 (Trend: — )
Last Week: Oklahoma State 21, Mississippi State 3
This Week: vs. Alcorn State
Next Week: at Auburn
Mississippi State could not contain Oklahoma State’s J.W. Walsh in a 21-3 loss. Walsh came into the game after two series by Clint Chelf, and ran for 125 yards and a touchdown.
However, the story for Mississippi State was the injury to Tyler Russell, who left the game with a concussion. He is expected to miss the game against Alcorn State this week. OSU isn’t traditionally known for defense and they shutdown the Bulldogs attack, especially when backup Dak Prescott entered the game. MSU is going to need Russell to get healthy fast or else they won’t have an offense for a while.
Fortunately for the Bulldogs, Alcorn State isn’t Oklahoma State, so they should be able to put together enough offense to win this week. Next week against Auburn may be a different story.
