1. Oklahoma State Cowboys

Record: 1-0

Previous Rank: 1 (Trend: – )

Last Week: Defeated Mississippi State, 21-3

This Week: at Texas-San Antonio

Next Week: vs. Lamar

J.W. Walsh will start next week after relieving incumbent Clint Chelf of his duties against Mississippi State. Chelf completed three of six passes for 11 yards. It became apparent quickly he wasn’t going to get the job done so the reigns were handed to Walsh.

Mississippi State wasn’t an easy first opponent to be handed, but Oklahoma State did with them what a front-runner conference winner is supposed to do. This was especially true once Walsh came into the game.

The need for Wash to further establish himself as the lone quarterback against two weak opponents would be useful news for a team that has their eyes on being a surprise national title contender.
