7) Pierre Thomas, RB, New Orleans
With the way the Saints pass the ball, and the fact they kind of always use a running back by committee, a lot of fantasy owners shy away from New Orleans backs. I love to have a back like Thomas on my team. He splits enough time that I don’t have to worry about deciding whether or not to start him according to match-ups, but he is productive enough I feel safe playing him a few weeks a year to cover byes and the inevitable injuries. Not matter who the Saints add as running back, Thomas always seems to get plenty of work. He is almost always available deep, deep into the drafts, so even though there is little flash, I like his steady performances. Don’t look for star numbers, just steady stats as a fill-in.
