6. Baylor Bears

Last Season: 8-5 (4-5)

Key Player: Bryce Petty

Key Word: Sleeper

Outlook:

Art Briles’ Baylor Bears are the sleeper of the Big 12 with the upside to win it all if things come together for them.

For now it is hard to pick them winning the conference without actually seeing their talent on the field. Lache Seastrunk was named the preseason Offensive Player of the Year in the Big 12, but questions still remain at quarterback and on the defense – a unit that was statistically one of the worst in college football last year.

However, people are very high on quarterback Bryce Petty’s ability. He’s spent three years in the system behind Robert Griffin III and Nick Florence, and is on many NFL radars due to his arm strength. The tools are certainly there for him to succeed. And if he does, watch out for the Bears.
