“Have you taken a look at that pile of crap out there? If you can’t play here, where can you play?” – Charlie Weis
Outlook:
November 6, 2010.
This was the last time the Kansas Jayhawks last won a conference game. A 52-45 come-from-behind win over the Colorado Buffalos (who are now in the PAC 12) that, at one point, saw the Jayhawks down 28 points with 14:52 left in the fourth quarter. KU pulled off an improbable five-straight touchdown drives (one a fumble recovery for a touchdown) to win the game.
Basically, since 2010, the only way the Jayhawks have been able to win a conference game has been to pull off a miraculous fourth quarter comeback that probably won’t be duplicated ever again.
This is Kansas football.
So that “pile of crap” Weis is talking about? It’s true on every level. Optimal wording? Probably not, but the truth can set you free.
This season Kansas is hoping better quarterback play in the form of Jake Heaps can kickstart an offense that is capable of winning a conference game. And should that happen, it would be a miracle.
