The Kansas City Chiefs have every reason to make as many moves as possible ahead of this year's trade deadline. Losing to the Buffalo Bills pushed the Chiefs out of the playoffs and towards a level of urgency that recent seasons have been lacking. Leading to the franchise remaining locked in on a trade market that includes two former K.C. offensive linemen, according to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, who reported that both Nick Allgeretti and Andrew Wylie are pieces the Washington Commanders would be willing to move after falling to 3-6 on the season.
Wylie spent the 2017-2022 seasons with the Chiefs, winning two Super Bowls while serving a myriad of roles. This experience will be enticing for teams looking for an interior boost. While it isn't a need for Kansas City, it isn't out of the question that the two sides opt for a reunion. Wylie could be valued for depth, but it seems more likely the franchise continues to focus its interest on adding pass rushers and a backfield addition. Regardless, it appears very likely that Wylie will be on the move.
Former Chiefs O-Linemen Among Long List of Trade Deadline Options
Allegretti followed a similar path, playing a variety of roles as a depth option and winning multiple Super Bowls with the Chiefs. Despite his connection to the team and city, it is hard to envision Kansas City having any level of interest in a reunion based on its current roster construction. If the front office opts to bring in additional depth, it makes far more sense to bring back Wylie, who remains a long-shot addition as well.
Looking at potential contenders that could look to add to the middle of the offensive line, the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills both stand out as possible landing spots. For Chiefs fans, there is a level of hope that the Lions add one or both players, based on the continued frustration with the Bills.
While the Chiefs have beaten Josh Allen's team in any game that matters, the regular-season results have told a very different story. Seeing any former Kansas City players join the rival would only raise the current level of frustration.
One outside possibility for the former Chiefs pieces could be the Atlanta Falcons. While the struggling franchise remains out of playoff contention, it is do-or-die time for the current regime, and injuries in the middle of the offensive line have opened the door to a possible trade.
Regardless of who, it would be surprising not to see one or both players on the move. With Jayden Daniels out for an unknown amount of time and the Commanders' 2025 campaign going down the toilet, it is time to punt on the season and part ways with every veteran piece that doesn't offer future value. This includes the two former Chiefs who remain respected pieces of the league's best dynasty.
