Offensive Tackle (again) Kelvin Beachum
Projected Contract: 1 year, $5 million
Max offer: 2 years, $8.5 million
I have listed offensive tackle twice because of the glaring needs at offensive tackle for the Chiefs this offseason. Beachum is a veteran swing tackle who has experience at both left and right tackle throughout his 13-year NFL career. The Chiefs' offensive line will need a left tackle, but almost more importantly, the Chiefs need to add depth. They simply did not have a lot of options on the offensive line, and the addition of Beachum would give them flexibility in case of struggles or injury.
Kelvin Beachum has started well over 100 games in his lengthy NFL career, and while he is on the back end of his career, he still has enough juice to contribute.
Despite being undersized, Beachum is a solid player who can provide immediate impact for the Chiefs both as a starter and as a depth piece. As a veteran, he shouldn't demand a large contract, and it's possible that Beachum would want to join a contender like the Chiefs on a relatively cheap contract. Beachum would provide that and gives them a veteran option on either side of the line who can be a solid starter or a high-end backup.
Defensive Tackle Folorunso Fatukasi
Projected Contract: 1 year, $4.5 million
Max offer: 2 years, $10 million
Fatukasi is a skilled defensive lineman who has made a significant impact since day one after being drafted by the Jets in the 6th round of the 2018 draft. The Chiefs have several defensive tackles hitting free agency in 2025, and filling the roles they leave behind will be difficult. The Chiefs will need to add a run stuffer next to Chris Jones who can eat blocks, and Fatukasi could be that guy for the Chiefs in 2025.
Folorunso Fatukasi has been very successful in his six-year NFL career between the Jets, Jaguars, and Texans and could make a big impact on the Chiefs. He has a big frame at six feet four inches, 320 pounds, and he knows how to use his size to eat blocks and get leverage in the run game. Fatukasi is 29 years old and has proven to be a solid run stuffer in a 4-3 defense and would be a great fit with the Chiefs.
Defensive End Lorenzo Carter
Projected Contract: 1 year, $4 million
Max offer: 2 years, $8.5 million
The Chiefs have defensive ends they are confident in, with George Karlaftis and Mike Danna, as well as young projects like Felix Anudike-Uzomah. The team may look to add a veteran option who can provide depth and rotate in off the edge as needed. Carter was once a 3rd round pick for the Giants in 2018 and has spent the last three seasons with the Falcons. Carter has mostly played in 3-4 schemes, but I think his size and profile would fit better in the Chiefs' scheme.
Carter has had some struggles throughout his career, but his best seasons came in 2021 and 2022, where he put up 9 sacks over those two seasons. He played under Patrick Graham in 2021 with the Giants and then Jeff Ulbrich with the Falcons in 2022, both of which were 4-3 defenses. Carter could provide depth and be a rotation pass rusher for the Chiefs, and I think he would be a good fit in Kansas City in Spagnuolo’s defense.
