10. Justin Watson - WR
Justin Watson originally signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs during the 2022 offseason. in his first season with the team, Watson recorded 15 receptions on 34 targets for 315 yards and two touchdowns. Although Watson caught less than 50% of his passes in 2022, he averaged 21.0 yards per reception, which contributed to the Chiefs bringing him back.
During the following offseason, Watson signed a two-year extension worth $3.4 million. Watson then went on to have his best season yards and touchdown-wise in his career. In 2023, Watson recorded 27 receptions on 53 targets for 460 yards and three touchdowns.
Once again, Watson wasn't catching the ball consistently, but he was still creating big plays with the ball in his hands, averaging 17.0 yards per catch. Unfortunately, 2024 was Watson's least productive season with the Chiefs, even though he saw the highest percentage of snaps (60%) that he has seen with the team.
This season, Watson had 22 receptions on 32 targets but only managed 289 yards and two touchdowns. Although Watson had the highest completion percentage when targeted (68%) of his career, he was unable to capitalize on those opportunities.
As a result, Watson's days in Kansas City could very well be over. If that's the case then the Chiefs will need to add more cheap receiver depth in free agency.
