4. Joshua Uche - DE

The Chiefs acquired Joshua Uche via trade from the Patriots on October 28. This addition was meant to help the Chiefs struggling to pass the rush while Charles Omenihu was still recovering from an injury. Alas, Uche was unable to provide much help.

In the five games that Uche played with the Chiefs, he never played more than 20% of snaps on defense. In the limited snaps that Uche had, he recorded just 10 tackles and one QB hurry. That's certainly not what the Chiefs were expecting when they traded for him.

Once Omenihu returned in Week 13, Uche became a healthy scratch. That's a terrible sign for Uche's future in Kansas City, especially given the rest of the Chiefs pass-rushing depth.

Unfortunately, the Chiefs' swing on a player who once had an 11.5-sack season failed. As a result, Uche will be out the door this offseason.

5. Justin Reid - S

The Chiefs signed safety Justin Reid to a three-year $31.5 million deal during this 2022 offseason. Therefore, 2024 was the final year of that contract. In three regular seasons with the Chiefs, Reid has recorded 265 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 11 QB hits, four sacks, one forced fumble, and three interceptions.

Furthermore, in two of Reid's three seasons with the Chiefs, he finished with a PFF coverage grade of above 70. As a result, he ranked among the top 15 in the league in pass coverage among safeties.

According to PFF, 2024 was Reid's best season with the Chiefs as he notched his best overall grade at 76.9, as well as his best rush defense (75.9) and pass coverage grade (77,4). Moreover, Reid recorded 87 tackles, five tackles for loss, two QB hits, and two interceptions in 2024.

Given Reid's production with the Chiefs, it's a no-brainer to try to ink an extension. That said, it likely won't be easy to keep Reid as he will presumably be looking for another decently sized contract. The Chiefs have many big decisions to make on important pending free agents, and Reid is one of them.

Clearly, Reid has done enough to earn his money, but it may not be from the Chiefs. If this is indeed it for Reid in Kansas City, Chiefs Kingdom appreciates his contributions to the defense.
