KC Royals: Ten Players Who Could Be Called Up in September

Kyle Zimmer is not on the Royals’ 40-man roster, but the possibility of him being called up to pitch out of the bullpen in September could happen.
For Zimmer to be a part of the team in September, Jason Vargas could be removed to add one more guy.
Zimmer was the Royals’ first-round pick in 2012 and has struggled with injuries since being selected by the team. He’s looked better this season, and currently posts a 2.44 ERA in Northwest Arkansas AA. He’s started six games, going 2-4, and pitching in 44.1 innings.
He likely wouldn’t be used in high-pressure situations, but he’s an extra arm in the bullpen for blowout games. Don’t be shocked if Zimmer isn’t brought up because he has struggled with injuries, and the Royals could also make a case to call up Miguel Almonte instead.
All in all, Zimmer is the last one on this list because him not being on the current 40-man roster is not a sign pointing to him being brought up to help the Royals in September and October. The Royals also could see his injuries as a reason not to bring him up.
