The Kansas City Chiefs (6-3) will host the defending Superbowl Champs, the Seattle Seahawks (6-3) this weekend at Arrowhead Stadium. This game is one of the more intriguing games this weekend and it renews a rivalry that existed for a long time.
The Seahawks and Chiefs were both a part of the AFC West from 1977-2002, before the Houston Texans were introduced as an expansion team and Seattle made their jump to the NFC west. All time, the Chiefs have dominated the Seahawks with an overall record of 38-18. At one point (1991-1998), the Chiefs had a record of 14-1 against their former division rival.
Matter of fact, the last time the Chiefs lost to the Seahawks was in 2002, when Seattle won 39-32.

Though this has been a lopsided rivalry in favor of the Chiefs, the Seahawks are a much better team now than they’ve ever been. They boast one of the most confident and ferocious defense’s in all of football and have a proven leader behind center. Both of these qualities have gotten them a Superbowl title and earned them the respect from the rest of the league.
Though they have sputtered a bit this season, the Chiefs cannot take this team lightly because even on their bad days they’re not an easy team to beat.
The focus of this article wasn’t about this upcoming game, we’ll focus on that later this week. This one is about the history of this rivalry and some of the memorable moments it has created.
For younger generations, even younger than me (I’m 25) this old rivalry has no meaning because they have no recollection of it. The average fan you talk to doesn’t even realize that the Hawks were part of the AFC long before their move to the NFC. So without further adieu, let’s take a little stroll down memory lane.
