During the off season, the main thing on most Kansas City Chiefs fans’ minds is the NFL Draft. Last year was an exciting off season because Kansas City held the first overall pick in the draft. This year, however, the Chiefs won’t be selecting their new teammate until pick 23.

With the draft in mind, I thought it might be fun to look back at Kansas City’s first round picks over the last ten years and discuss how their careers have gone whether they’re still with the Chiefs or with another team. I’ll also touch on notable players drafted if they weren’t a first rounder.

Yesterday, we went through some draft picks in years 2004-2009. Today, we will take a look back at some draft picks in the years 2009 through 2013.

I think Fasano and Kelce will stay healthy and contribute a lot this year. We know Jamaal can run and be a good pass catcher out of the backfield. I would like to get a good WR in FA and take the best pass rushing DE that is available at 23. Either that, or, get a good pass rushing DE in FA and take the best WR available at 23. We haven’t had either for years. A good DE will take a lot of pressure off of Hali, Houston, and the secondaries. Someone good opposite Bowe would open the playbook for Smith. JMO

I might add Dressler or McCluster out of the slot.

Your analysis is quite correct. A 3-4 DE that can attack the QB and a playmaker at WR are both needed.
