The Chiefs are keeping the entire defensive line together after all.

Kansas City officially re-signed DE Mike Danna to a three-year, $24 million deal including $13 million guaranteed. This was one of my biggest remaining priorities in free agency, as he was the final major piece of the defense whose fate with the team had not yet been determined.

With 6.5 sacks last year, Danna established himself as a quality pass rusher who can be a solid run defender too. The defense is close to complete, and L'Jarius Sneed stands to be the only major loss.

Chiefs News: KC Re-Signs DE Mike Danna to Three-Year, $24 Million Deal

Originally a fifth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Michigan, Danna has been a rotational player for most of his career but was thrust into a starting spot while Charles Omenihu served a six-game suspension.

Danna was excellent in the role, recording 5.5 sacks in the first eight weeks. He becomes the first Brett Veach draft pick to earn a multi-year contract extension, though he likely won't be alone by this time next year.

With Chris Jones, Omenihu, George Karlaftis and Felix Anudike-Uzomah in the fold, Danna cements the Chiefs' defensive line as not only one of the league's best, but perhaps its deepest as well.

The nature of the contract signals a commitment to Danna's development as well. He's familiar with the system and has relationships with players and coaches in the locker room. Continuity matters for this Chiefs team and they're continuing to prove they're all-in for a potential three-peat.
