The Chiefs have the fifth-best odds to win the 2024 Super Bowl entering the postseason. They take on the Dolphins in the Wild Card round this Saturday in what should be a wildly entertaining matchup with snowy conditions expected.
While some fans and the media in general have soured on Kansas City's chances to hoist another Lombardi Trophy, I feel the Chiefs have as good of a chance as any team to win the Super Bowl.
Let's look at three stats proving the Chiefs will win it all for the second straight year below.
3 Stats Proving the Chiefs Will Win the Super Bowl
1. Scoring Defense
Last year, the Chiefs coincidentally became the first team since 2013 to win the Super Bowl despite finishing outside of the top 10 in scoring defense. Typically, defense does indeed win championships.
Kansas City flatly has one of the very best defenses in the NFL. The Chiefs ranked second in opponent points per game (17.3), behind only the Baltimore Ravens (16.5). That's a recipe for success, especially when you pair it with offensive star power in Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid and Travis Kelce.
5 sacks by the Chiefs in the last 6 minutes of the game to shut the door on the Bengals season was incredible. This defense is ELITE! 🔥pic.twitter.com/ZtikMj6ILL

Chris Jones, Charles Omenihu, George Karlaftis and Mike Danna make up one of the NFL's most ferocious pass rushes, while standouts like L'Jarius Sneed and Trent McDuffie smother opposing receivers with regularity.
If the Chiefs defense maintains this level of play, it won't need a lot of help from the offense to win. Score just enough points and let the defense get the job done.
These aren't your Chiefs of last year, and it's time for the organization to embrace that.

2. Opponent Yards Per Pass
Preventing your opponent from scoring is obviously the top objective, but a great passing defense is more important than a great rushing defense.
The last team standing is nearly always one with an excellent quarterback, so mitigating the advantage a good quarterback can provide is one way to beat good teams. Well, the Chiefs happen to be excellent in that category.
Kansas City ranks third league-wide in opponent yards per pass (5.4) and first in sack percentage (9.3%). This is a menacing unit led by one of the most creative defensive coordinators alive in Steve Spagnuolo. Even if the defense doesn't cause many turnovers, the pass defense harrasses offenses and gives the team a chance to win every week.

From Tyreek Hill to DJ Moore to Justin Jefferson to AJ Brown, no opposing top receiver has fared well against the Chiefs.
Good luck passing on this team in the playoffs. If you can't pass, you can't win. Thus, I like the Chiefs' chances.
We've got two defensive stats proving the Chiefs will win the Super Bowl. Now, it's time to address the offense.
3. Yards Per Play
We know all about the Chiefs' issues in the red zones and the poorly timed turnovers, though underlying metrics still paint the picture of a successful NFL offense.
The Chiefs were ninth in yards per play (5.5) and put themselves in plenty of good positions, but made critical errors at bad times to keep points off the board. Whether it was drops or questionable play calls, something always popped up.
I think those problems will get fixed in the playoffs. Patrick Mahomes will lean on Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice, along with a healthy dose of Isiah Pacheco. There's no more time to mess around with Marquez Valdes-Scantling targets and I believe in this offense to put the ball in the hands of its playmakers.
Rashee Rice leads the entire NFL in yards after the catch. He's 11th among WRs in yards per route run. To do this as a rookie receiver on an Andy Reid team is patently absurd. His play forced the coaching staff to expand his role when they clearly wanted to slow play things.

It's been a frustrating year for Chiefs fans, though I'll take my chances with Mahomes, Kelce and Reid every time I get the opportunity.
The fact that the Chiefs still rank in the top 10 in yards per play indicates they've got the guys to win a championship.
I'm putting my money where my mouth is - Kansas City is winning its third Super Bowl in the last five seasons. Book it.
