Happy 34th birthday to not only the best tight end of all-time but also to the greatest Chiefs player in history.

Travis Kelce's accomplishments and impact on Kansas City are significant and rival any in the storied franchise's history. While Patrick Mahomes will almost certainly go down as the greatest Chief ever, the title for now belongs to Travis.

As the A-list Hollywood star celebrates his sepcial day, let's look at three reasons why Kelce wears the crown in Chiefs Kingdom.

3 Reasons Travis Kelce is the Greatest Chiefs Player Ever

1. His accolades are unmatched

Kelce is the best example of how the NFL has adapted to a new era of pass-catching tight ends. He's essentially a mega-sized wide receiver, with the grace and agility to get by linebackers and the physicality to bully defensive backs.

He's got seven consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, all culminating in a first or second-team All-Pro nod while catching at least 83 catches each year. Until Week 1 vs. Detroit, he hadn't missed a game since his rookie season.

His consistency and dependability are unrivaled across the league and are testaments to Kelce's work ethic and effort, qualities that embody Kansas Citians.

He laps the field when evaluating the tight end position and his resume is on par with the most impactful offensive players in NFL history. With two Super Bowl rings, Kelce is a first-ballot Hall of Famer and a joy to watch on the field.

Kelce's longevity and postseason success give him the nod over other Chiefs greats. He put up numbers with both Alex Smith and Mahomes, showing he's no product of the latter's brilliance.

For his career, Kelce has 831 catches for 10,449 yards and 71 touchdowns. He's been the most exciting pass catcher for a generation of Chiefs fans and will be remembered with the reverence he deserves.

We've seen him grow up with us, and that's another reason he's the greatest Chief ever.

2. He Bridged the Gap Between Old and New

Chiefs fans remember the old days. After Trent Green retired, Kansas City suffered through a disastrous string of quarterbacks like Brodie Croyle, Tyler Thigpen and Damon Huard, just to name a few.

Of course, Alex Smith brought stability to the organization and playoff appearances before Patrick Mahomes set the whole world on fire. That being said, Kelce is the one consistent connection between the years of suffering and the newfound success.

He was on the roster when the Chiefs blew a 28-point lead to the Colts in the playoffs and when the Steelers didn't score a touchdown but still won. Kelce was on the field for Alex Smith's final game too, the postseason collapse against the Titans at home.

That Kelce suffered alongside us through some of our most devastating moments makes our connection to him that much stronger, and the success that much sweeter.

Chiefs fans know how long the road has been to get here and so does Kelce. He's overcome a tremendous amount of adversity and feels like a true representation of Kansas City.

Not only has Kelce accomplished incredible feats and been with us through the journey, but he's given us a special look inside his life as well to help bolster that relationship between player and city.

3. He's the most accessible Chief

Travis and Jason Kelce's podcast, New Heights, is just one example of how Kelce has made himself accessible over the years. Expressing your personality humanizes athletes and Kelce's outlandish, fun-loving vibes make him the perfect fit for the Chiefs.

It wasn't always Saturday Night Live appearances and touchdown dances. We saw Kelce labeled as as a bad teammate and immature after a series of unsportsmanlike penalities early in his career and we witnessed a young man grow as we grew as fans.

Who could forget Catching Kelce with the heartthrob attempting to find love on a reality show? Or the infamous "Foot Locker" postgame interview?

For better or worse, Kelce has always been the truest form of himself. Patrick Mahomes' perfect image can sometimes feel manufactured, as he's the ultimate example of a teammate and leader, but Kelce's flaws add a layer of authenticity we don't always see.

When Kelce eventually retires, I'll remember him as the greatest Chief of my life and my all-time favorite player. Until then, I can't wait to see how much more he accomplishes. Thank you for the joy and effort with which you play, Travis.
