Realistic Linebacker Options for KC Chiefs

2. Nick Bolton (Missouri)

A popular name in Kansas City as far as who to take at pick 31 is Missouri linebacker Nick Bolton, who is typically projected as either a late first-round pick or an early second-rounder. I’d be perfectly fine with the Chiefs spending pick No. 31 on Bolton and he’d likely be thrilled to join a Super Bowl contender who is just hours away from his college campus.

Bolton is someone who isn’t afraid to tackle a guy and is quite good at it, racking up 95 tackles last year and 103 the previous year. He had two interceptions during the 2019 season and took one of them back for a touchdown.

Bolton is smaller than most would prefer at the position, standing at 5’11” and 237 pounds, but the rest of his skills should hopefully make up for that. He’s someone who could be put in the Chiefs defense and make an immediate impact and that can’t be ignored.

KC Kingdom’s Chris Clark wrote that Bolton should be a draft priority for the Chiefs. Clark likes what Bolton can provide for Kansas City and notes that his athletic abilities have given him a comparison to Denzel Perryman and Lavonte David, two very good football players.

Bolton should be available when the Chiefs are on the clock, but will they spend a first-round pick on a linebacker? We’ll have to wait and see.
