Realistic Linebacker Options for KC Chiefs

4. Jamin Davis (Kentucky)

Similar to Cox, Jamin Davis is not a first-round talent. That doesn’t mean that the Chiefs shouldn’t look to add him if he’s still on the board in the second round though, as the Kentucky linebacker had himself quite the year in 2020.

Davis finished his final year at Kentucky with 102 tackles (four for loss) while notching three interceptions and 1.5 sacks. One of those interceptions he had went the other way for a touchdown too, proving that Davis can make good things happen whenever he’s on the field.

There’s no denying how impressive Davis was in 2020, but he wasn’t that same player in his first two years at Kentucky. He did somehow play in more games last year despite the pandemic (10 compared to seven as a freshman and eight as a sophomore) and made the most of his starts for sure, but can teams bank on Davis to be the same player he was in 2020?

This is a big question that teams need to ask themselves. While Davis could be a stud at the linebacker position, I’d rather Kansas City wait until round two before they draft him.
