Positions KC Chiefs don’t need to address in draft

Quarterback

The easiest entry on this list is easily at the quarterback position. Patrick Mahomes is tied to Kansas City for the next decade and for good reason, so why would the Chiefs look to replace him anytime soon?

There could be an argument for the team needing to draft a backup quarterback, but Chad Henne is under contract for one more year. Henne stepped in during the AFC Divisional Round and had that heroic scramble on third and forever that Chiefs fans will remember forever. It showed that Henne can step in when called upon and do his job.

The Chiefs also have Jordan Ta’amu and Anthony Gordon on their quarterback depth chart too. Ta’amu is a former XFL standout who spent last year on the practice squad. Gordon is a former Washington State quarterback, who was on the Seahawks’ practice squad last year.

The big thing here is that Henne is under contract for one more year and has been a nice backup to have. This means that Kansas City can wait another year before spending a draft pick on a backup quarterback.
