Academy Success

The success of the SKC Academy has really been evident more fully in 2020. In previous seasons we have seen Gianluca Busio and Jaylin Lindsey get some playing time, but now we’ve seen Felipe Hernandez and Cameron Duke also join them and do extremely well.

Along with their success in the first team, Academy players have been excellent with Sporting KC II. Wilson Harris earned a first-team contract after scoring eight times for SKC II while Jake Davis is another midfielder that is on the verge of signing a contract with the first team.

Not only has the Academy been essential in developing the talent of the future, but the players they have developed have helped in transitioning out some of the older players. SKC fans should be thankful that their Academy system is starting to flourish and developing great talent.

Without the success of an Academy, SKC would have to rely on bringing in players from elsewhere in an inflated market, not something that would be greatly successful as a team not near the coast.
