NUMBER FOUR: HOUSTON TEXANS

The last time the Kansas City Chiefs faced the Houston Texans was the epic comeback in the AFC Divisional Round. Houston went up 24-0 before any of us could blink and the next thing you know, the Chiefs had taken the lead and went on to blowout the Texans. To go from being blown out to then blowing out the opposition is unheard of in the NFL and the Chiefs did just that.

It’s only fitting that these two get a primetime slot in 2020 because of the implications of that game, but also because it’d pit two of the 2017 NFL Draft first round quarterbacks against each other in Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson. These are two of the biggest stars in the game right now and not including them in a primetime game would be blasphemy.

This game would get my vote for who the Chiefs should play in the NFL season opener and raise the banner against. It’d be fitting to raise the banner against one of the teams the Chiefs beat to get that banner. If this were the game chosen for such an event, it’d be the Sunday Night Football crew, but the game itself would take place on a Thursday (assuming things go as normal, which is hard to predict at this point)

NUMBER THREE: TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

This game wouldn’t have made the list at the beginning of the offseason, but the Buccaneers landed future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady and his favorite  tight end Rob Gronkowski. That makes this game must-see TV.

While Brady isn’t what he once was (and he saw that in 2019), he did beat the Chiefs at Arrowhead in the AFC Championship Game in the 2018 season to advance to the Super Bowl, so he still is capable of taking it to KC. This game will be in Tampa Bay, so the Bucs would have home field advantage, which means once again Tom Brady gets to play the Chiefs in his home field in the regular season.

This game just screams Sunday Night Football, but the Bucs are going to have a lot of primetime games due to the acquisitions of Brady and Gronk, so this might be one that is relegated to the Sunday afternoon slot instead.
