WHAT DID WE LEARN ABOUT THE BRONCOS?

People are going to talk a lot about Drew Lock this week and deservedly so. The Broncos rookie quarterback had a nice game against a good team over the weekend, but it’s still way too early in his career to tell if he’s the future or not.

But yes, the Broncos did have a good game, crushing the Texans 38-24, but the score never felt that close. It was 38-3 at one point and Houston did next to nothing until it was too late.

Lock outdueled Deshaun Watson, throwing for 309 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception while getting sacked once. He’s been a saving grace for Noah Fant, who looked like a bust this year, but had 113 yards and a touchdown on Sunday.

The defense did their part as well, holding Watson to 292 yards (a lot of which came in garbage time), one touchdown, and two interceptions while sacking him three times. The Broncos did give up over 130 yards rushing and surrendered 120 receiving yards to DeAndre Hopkins.

Jeremiah Attaochu had two sacks on Watson while Kareem Jackson had a statement game against his old team. Jackson had 11 tackles, three passes defended, and had a fumble returned for a touchdown in his Homecoming. It’s probably safe to say that Texans fans weren’t pleased seeing that kind of performance from their old safety.

While the Broncos are suddenly on a hot streak, we’ve seen this story before with them. They’ll play the Chiefs in Kansas City this Sunday in the early window of games, so we’ll see if they’re really on the upswing. Either way, their playoff hopes are shot.
