MITCHELL WILCOX – SOUTH FLORIDA

South Florida’s Mitchell Wilcox plays with a swagger, to go along with versatility and athleticism. If there is a player that you could say is similar to current Travis Kelce at this point in the draft process, it could be Wilcox.

Similar body style and size, Wilcox displays an ability to line up all over the field for South Florida. If there is a player that I personally am going to keep an eye on through the draft evaluation process, Wilcox is going to be at the top of my list.

Likely a mid round pick with the opportunity to work with Andy Reid and company, the future could be bright with Wilcox in a Chiefs uniform.

Wilcox, however, is not nearly as dynamic as a player such as Travis Kelce or the other upper tier tight ends in this draft. Like many players coming out, especially from smaller programs, he needs to get stronger to hold up, especially blocking.

Coming from a somewhat simplistic offense in which he was only asked to run a few routes, he’ll have to work to develop his routes and attention to detail. He’s a willing blocker and has experience lining up outside and inside, and has been asked to do a lot of different things for the South Florida program.

Could Wilcox develop into the next Chiefs tight end? He has a lot of the tools, so it will be interesting to see where he goes and if he’s with the right people to further his development.
