The Kansas City Chiefs have finally reached their bye week for the 2019 season and so far, there have been some players who have positively surprised us all.
Coming into this season, most people expected guys like Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and Chris Jones to go out there and do their thing for the Kansas City Chiefs each and every week. But what about the players who we didn’t expect much from?
Let’s take a look at the most surprising Chiefs through the first 11 games, starting with a guy who came in and did what was asked of him in two critical games.
When Patrick Mahomes went down with an injury in the game against Denver, many fans (myself included) thought “There goes the season.” That’s nothing against Matt Moore, but it’s darn near impossible to find someone who can replicate what Mahomes can do on the football field.
Moore, despite not having played a regular season game since 2017, came in and did what was asked of him. He kept the Chiefs afloat while Mahomes was out and went 1-1 as a starter, against two really good NFC teams too in the Packers and the Vikings.
Moore threw for 659 yards and four touchdowns while under center and performed as well as fans could have hoped for a backup quarterback.
