The KC Chiefs were the only team in the AFC West to win in week seven and that’s huge considering they had dropped two straight games and lost their starting quarterback for the next few weeks.

Here are the current standings in the AFC West after week seven:

More from Kansas City Chiefs

  1. Kansas City Chiefs (5-2)
  2. Oakland Raiders (3-3)
  3. Denver Broncos (2-5)
  4. Los Angeles Chargers (2-5)

I don’t want to say the Broncos and Chargers are out of it quite yet with how weak the AFC is, but this past week showed that neither of them are worth fearing over right now.

Los Angeles has the talent to be a good team, but injuries have derailed their 2019 campaign to this point. They have been a franchise that’s notorious for getting hot at the right time, however, so maybe a winning streak is soon to come for the Bolts.

At least the Chargers had a chance to win their game on Sunday. The Broncos looked downright pitiful in their week seven game against the Chiefs, only scoring six points against a defense that had been dreadful through the first six weeks of the season.

The Raiders have been a tough team to peg, but costly turnovers prevented them from putting a dent in the Packers’ resumé. Speaking of the Packers, that’s who the Chiefs get in week eight and it won’t be an easy game by any means, even with Kansas City getting an extra few days to prepare for that one.

Even with Mahomes in the lineup, this would have been a tough game, but with him injured, it’ll make things even more difficult for the 5-2 Chiefs. For now, however, the good guys are still at the top of the pack in the AFC West!
