Showing what a player can do against opponents in live games can make a good argument for their case to stay on the roster or even a chance to be on the practice squad. While players will be up and down for the next three weeks, some are going to be pulling away from others and solidifying their spots on the final 53-man roster.
As for these players, just because they’re trending up this week doesn’t mean they’re locks to make the final roster.
The same can be said for the players trending down and them not being locks to NOT make the roster. There are still three preseason games left to be played and while the Chiefs starters will play more over these next two weeks, the fourth and final preseason game is all about the backups, third stringers, and fourth stringers.
