While there are other rookies who will probably end up surprising us, these are the five that could heavily contribute to the team in 2019.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Juan Thornhill was number one on here because he’s probably the only one to end up starting come week one. Slotting Thornhill into the safety spot opposite Tyrann Mathieu will upgrade the position for the Chiefs and should help their secondary immensely.

Mecole Hardman is listed as number two on here. With Tyreek Hill looking at a potential four-game suspension, Hardman is going to have to up his game. He’ll be an impact on special teams for sure, but the Chiefs need him to make plays on offense while Hill is unavailable.

Darwin Thompson could be a guy who takes the entire league by storm as a rookie. He had one heck of a season at Utah State and the Chiefs saw enough potential there to snatch him up in the sixth round of this year’s draft. Yes, Damien Williams is the guy at running back, but if he suffers any setbacks, Thompson will be counted on even more so.

The rest of the players listed here are Khalen Saunders, Mark Fields, and John Lovett. Saunders will be a much needed depth piece along the defense line while Fields could serve as a backup to Kendall Fuller. Lovett is an intriguing prospect and hopefully he can see some snaps at tight end.

What do you think, Chiefs fans? Which rookies are going to heavily contribute in 2019?
