ROOKIES WHO CAN CONTRIBUTE IN 2019

NUMBER 3 – DARWIN THOMPSON

I listen to the Dan Patrick Show at work and whenever the AFC West comes up, Dan usually picks the Chargers as the best team in the division. His reason for that is predominantly that he doesn’t trust the Chiefs running back situation.

Damien Williams is the number one option heading into training camp and the preseason and he’s yet to carry the load for a full 16-game season. That has a lot of non-Chiefs fans wondering if this team can pack a punch in the run game like they have the past few seasons.

That’s where Darwin Thompson comes into play.

The Chiefs took Thompson in the sixth round out of Utah State and there’s a lot of hype surrounding this kid, and for good reason. Thompson totaled 1,044 rushing yards to go along with 14 touchdowns while also grabbing 351 yards through the air and two receiving touchdowns.

Thompson’s ability to run and catch the football makes him a dream come true for Andy Reid. Williams is the number one option for the time being, but Thompson should be able to contribute on the field and become a big time playmaker for the Chiefs in 2019.
