2019 NFL Mock Draft: KC Chiefs go best available with each pick
ROUND 1: PICK 29 (29TH OVERALL)
*THIS MOCK WAS CONDUCTED BEFORE THE CHIEFS TRADED FOR EMMANUEL OGBAH*
After three seasons at Clemson, Dexter Lawrence is forgoing his senior season and heading to the 2019 NFL Draft. He was the best available at pick 29, so naturally the Kansas City Chiefs snatched him up.
What stands out to me, and probably most draft nerds, about Lawrence is that he’s known as a run-stuffer. That just so happens to be an area that has plagued the Chiefs defense over the years and now they could land a player who is good at stopping the run.
Lawrence’s best season actually came as a freshman in 2016 and his production went down from there, but he’s still a great player. He finished his Clemson career with 131 tackles (18 for loss), ten sacks, four defensed passes, three recovered fumbles, one interception, and one forced fumble.
What analysts are saying:
"While he has the ability to play in any scheme, he might be at his best as a read-and-react run-stuffer with the ability to stymie running games with his size and force. -Lance Zierlein, NFL.com"
