KANSAS CITY ROYALS NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS

NUMBER 1 – TARGET LONG-TERM ANSWERS

Last, but not least, the Royals need to focus on addressing long-term answers for this ball club. Whether it’s through free agency or trades (likely the latter), the Royals aren’t in a position to win now, but they could be in three or four years.

Going along with the third resolution I made for the Royals, if this team gets a big time offer for one of their “superstars” and it’s fits their needs, then do it! Go get a young arm that has five years of club control left. Go get a reliever that has a killer change-up (or whatever) that you could turn into a dominant guy out of the pen.

When the Royals were so bad for so long, they stockpiled tons and tons of young prospects who they eventually either kept and developed or traded off to other teams for even more prospects. The Royals are back in position to start obtaining young players again and that’s the best thing for this rebuild in an attempt to make it shorter than the last time.
