New England Patriots (8-3 and currently 2nd seed)

Tom Brady and company will stay the scariest on this list until they either don’t make the playoffs, or lose before they get to the Chiefs again. This is all based on two things: History and respect.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Tommy and Bill Belichick have been nails in the playoffs. The stats and records go on and on, but the one that stands out most is 27 playoff victories. That’s just downright not fair. I’ve seen one, ONE playoff victory for the Chiefs in that same amount of time and the damn Patriots have seen 27 with five Super Bowl wins. UGH, just retire already!

The Patriots have sputtered a bit here and there this season, as Brady is finally starting to show his age a bit against faster defenses on the road. All three of New England’s losses have come on the road, two of which were extremely lopsided (Jacksonville and Tennessee).

When the Patriots make it in the playoffs, everyone in the AFC knows they’re the measuring stick no matter what seed they wind up with. The good news for the Chiefs is the Patriots still have two monster road games ahead of them including at Minnesota this week. Then they travel to take on the Steelers in week 15, which could be a game that seals the deal for the Chiefs and the one seed.

The Chiefs HAVE to make sure they catch the Patriots at home this time if they want to be on the right side of the rematch from week seven. Otherwise winning in Foxboro to go to the Super Bowl seems like a long shot.
